#1 MAKE LOVE TO THE KITE

What? Make love to the kite? Yep! When I first started to learn my instructor said don’t shit .. shag ! It means that instead of showing off your butt, Focus on the kite. Love the kite. Push your loin up and forward – as if you’re making love to it. Post the embarrassment it was one of the best tips I ever got !

#2 LEAN BACK & ON YOUR BACK FOOT

Feel like a pro, relax and be cool. Lean back as much as you can. Sqeeze your bum in and lean back as if it all doesn’t take any serious effort to you.. Be aware not to lose control when speeding up: put your weight on your back foot.

#3 OPEN UP YOUR BODY

When you’re making love in a cool way you have nothing to hide, right? Open up your body. Widen your shoulders. Feel big and pro-like. Try to feel comfortable with one hand off the bar. Feel lovable!

#4 PRACTISE HANDS-OFF KITING

Look mummy, I can do it without hands! You must have said this at some point in your life. Time for a refresher! Try to kite without hands as long as you can. It’s easy: leaning your body back is pulling the bar in, leaning your body forward is pushing the bar forward. But doing it is not easy!!

#5 BEND YOUR KNEES

When the conditions are not picture perfect, you will find powerful and controlled riding more difficult. Are you always crashing in the waves? Then it’s time to bend your knees more. Absorb the bumps through the knees.

#6 PRACTICE. PRACTICE. PRACTICE.

Are you making love to the kite and feeling good, but still losing control sometimes? No worries – it’s okay! Give it a go and you will master it in no time. Just think of this: every master was once a beginner and every pro started as an amateur, so dream big and start now!
